Your Life in Pictures

Went walking on Sunday afternoon at Whitehead- 1.75miles (2.8km).

Now onto today - Wednesday

The wonderful life of a stay at home mom. Never thought that would happen to me but here I am. Its not so bad but I really find it difficult to keep motivated and keep focuses. The same spot you cleared yesterday needs clearing tomorrow.
If it were not for reading, chats to friends, occasional outings, Internet (swap-bot, Facebook, blogging, Skype etc.) I wouldn't manage it at all.
I am really enjoying reading but have to watch that I don't get so absorbed that I neglect the house.
I must admit though sometimes it does not look like I am a stay at home mom - I get carried away with church projects, help my husband and friends with stuff - good excuse for not cleaning.
But next week I am expecting visitors to saty over - so no more excuses and the places I have been ignoring have to get done.

Normally have coffee round 9:30-10:00 after dropping my daughter off at school.

Did a lot of ironing and when I had a break I continued with my knitting project - an overthrow for my 2-seater couch.

Listen to an audio book from the Libray while cleaning up.

Empty ironing basket ready to go down.
Vacuumed.

This a swap requirements listed HERE.

Theme A Day Journal - Introduction

I have decided that I need to start writing again. My blog for the past year has included very little writing. Its mainly consisted of photos and memes and here and there I have share a few thoughts.

One reason is I realised a lot of people from the area I moved to checked out my blog to get know me. I became paralyzed with fear of the impression I would make and how it would affect my husband's ministry.
Then I wondered if potential employers would come across my blog and how would they perceive it and me.
Sound silly. I don't know - its hard to admit i was paranoid (not something I ever thought I would be). I decided to rather play it safe than sorry.

Now i figure people know me a bit more and they know my husband and if misinterpret or misjudge us - well that is there problem.
A few years ago I decided i would not have an anonymous blog. One of my inner most fears is being misunderstood but how can people ever understand me if I don't share me but an image I think I need to project?

There is another reason I have decided to do a Theme A Day Journal.
I have never seen myself as a natural or good writer but I have always wanted to write a book. The literature that i have read says that you just need to write - its a discipline and you should consider doing it for 15min. a day.

So now I can do a swap, practicing writing and maybe share interesting stuff on my blog again besides photos (don't worry I will still share photos and do some memes).

Theme A Journal Swap
starts officially on the 4 May if you would like to join.

Freedom Day

I was wondering how I can share in todays celebrations so far from home. I discovered this song - I have never heard it before - if I have I can't remember it.
Its amazing how I still have so much to learn about my Country that I lived in for 32 years of my life.
My commitment this Freedom day is to continue opening myself up to the Other to embrace South Africa's past as we build on its present and future.
I might not be physically in my Country at the moment but I can still make a positive impact.
One of those is that I hope that overseas citizens will vote in the next election - we won the court case but it was too close to the election and therefore not enforced.
I got a taste of what my mother and others felt like to be disenfranchised.
So today is bitter sweet. The struggle is not over.

Weeping, The South African Anti-Apartheid Protest Song

icture: gillstrawberry.co.za

I'm Dan Heymann, and I wrote the words and music of "Weeping" during the mid-1980's when I was an unwilling soldier, drafted into the army of South Africa's white-supremacist regime.

The first recording of "Weeping" to be played on the radio
(the 1987 version by South African band Bright Blue)
included a refrain from the anthem of the African National Congress.

Today that tune (Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika) is South Africa's National Anthem,
but at the time, it was under a "ban" by the Apartheid government.
